Hall-Effect Switch Serves Low-Voltage Uses

Built using the firm’s Chopper-Stabilized process, which is said to eliminate inherent and environmental chip offsets, the A3210 is a low-voltage, ultra-sensitive, Hall-effect switch with digital output. The device is designed for low-voltage applications, specifically targeting battery-powered products such as flip phones, laptop computers, and handheld communication equipment. Operating from 2.5V to 3.5V with typical supply current of 20 µA, the switch acts as a direct replacement for reed switch applications and eliminates the need for magnetic re-design.The devices include, on a single silicon chip, a Hall-voltage generator, small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, a latch, and a MOSFET output. The device is rated for operation over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is available in both the firm’s SOHED surface-mount package as well as in UA SIPs.
