First Low-Cost, Low-Power 16-Bit A/D Converter?

Claimed to be the semiconductor industry's first low-cost, low-power 16-bit A/D converter, the TC3401 is capable of performing 16-bit conversions at a rate of up to eight per second and can be adjusted down to a 10-bit resolution at 512 conversions per second. The converter operates from 1.8V to 5.5V and draws up to 300 µA during data conversion.Additional features include a microprocessor reset output and a voltage-supply-bus monitor with power-fail output. The supply voltage monitor with reset generator allows power-on reset and provides brownout protection.The device also features an early warning power-fail detector that can be used as a wake-up timer in shutdown mode.
