Fiber-Optic Backplane Offers High-Density Connectivity

The Quantum QX fiber-optic backplane offers high-density connectivity in applications such as telecomm and datacomm networking and switching equipment, add-drop multiplexers, and high-bandwidth data networking equipment. Typical insertion loss for the QX connectors on the backplane is 0.4 dB per mated pair. The overall system uses a SC-style push-pull engagement mechanism, and the connectors are polarized to ensure proper connector orientation. Other features include a multi-fiber array connector that holds from one to 12 fibers in a single thermo-polymer ferrule.
