Blind-Mate Connector Reduces Assembly Time

Nov. 1, 2000

Said to reduce assembly time and associated costs, the blind-mate Micro-Fit 3.0 BMI connector system has a plug with a funnel-shaped entry that helps guide the mating receptacle. A screwless mounting design locks the connector into place on the panel, while allowing it to float inside up to .050" in any direction to aid blind mating. Designed for .062" panels, this wire-to-wire connector system is well suited for power supplies in PCs, servers and routers, fan tray assemblies in PCs, and backplanes.
The Micro-Fit 3.0 connector system, which incorporates many of the features previously found only in large power connectors, can be used for either power or signal connection and can carry up to 5A per circuit, depending on the application. Prices for the Micro-Fit 3.0 BMI connector system depends on circuit size, style and quantity ordered. Available with 4 to 24 circuits, a typical four-circuit receptacle costs $0.10 each/100,000.
