I/O Connector Meets Infiniband Specs

March 1, 2001

Designed for Infiniband applications, the SPEEDPAC I/O connector includes a high-speed section with up to 24 differential pairs operating at up to 5 GB/s with a low-speed and low-power section with 18 contacts with a current rating of 2.5A. The connector is said to perform at maximum speed with negligible crosstalk and minimal insertion loss.
The high-speed section encloses each differential pair with an air dielectric and metalized housing, providing an impedance of 100 ohm ±5%. Other features include low insertion force and a caming action that lowers the high-speed section after the power and ground contacts mate.
