Brushless DC Fan Runs For 100,000 Hours

Jan. 1, 2002

A new brushless dc fan can run for 100,000 hours, itÕs claimed. According to the company, the use of precision ball bearings as well as careful lubrication and assembly techniques ensures that 90% or more of the MDE1225 series fan will achieve the expected life when operating at a 140¡F ambient temperature. The long-life, low-noise, axial flow fan produces 95.4 cfm maximum of air flow and is available in both 12 and 24 Vdc input models. The fan is also said to provide significantly increased reliability by providing the user with a low-speed and/or zero-speed (stopped) alarm signal. This notifies the host controller of decreased or zero cooling performance in order to protect sensitive electronic equipment and to prevent potential damage due to fan failure. The fanÕs dimensions are 4.69" x 4.69" x 1.0". ORIENTAL MOTOR U.S.A. CORP., Torrance, CA. (800) 406-7484, ext. 802.
