Four-Component System Serves As Versatile Firewire Analyzer

May 1, 2002

Designers building products that employ the IEEE 1394 protocol have in the FireSpy a versatile tool for quickly testing and analyzing the protocol. The FireSpy analyzer is designed to make a simple, direct connection to systems using IEEE1394Ñalso known as Firewire or iLinkÑand is controlled via an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. Data transfer is via a fast USB connection. FireSpy is a four-in-one instrument: the Monitor provides quick overviews of bus activity; the Commander gives access to Firewire systems; the Recorder represents the most important tool for testing IEEE 1394 devices; and the Generator allows large amounts of asynchronous or isochronous data streams to be transmitted.
