Vying for position in the control and automation markets, the COMM+850.PCI single-port, RS-232 serial I/O adapter breaks the standard PCI-bus data rate of 115 kb/s for similar adapters, raising the speed bar to 460 kb/s. This speed increase is attributed to the use of 128-byte FIFOs for transmit and receive in conjunction with a high-speed oscillator.
