New Additions Strengthen Family Of Data Acquisition SoCs

Two new MicroConverters and their associated QuickStart evaluation kits extend the company's family of data acquisition systems-on-a-chip (SoC) devices. The 24-bit ADuC834 has eight times more on-chip memory than its pin-to-pin compatible predecessor, the ADuC824, while the 12-bit ADuC814, at just one quarter the size of a standard 52-lead PQFP-packaged MicroConverters, is well-suited for applications requiring the smallest form-factor. The ADuC834, a fully integrated 24-bit data acquisition system, incorporates two high-performance, self-calibrating, multi-channel 24-/16-bit sigma delta ADCs, a DAC, a PLL, and a programmable 8-bit flash MCU compatible with the 8051 assembler instruction set--this device is the company's first large-memory MicroConverter; it has 62 KB of in-circuit reprogrammable flash/EE on-chip memory, 4 KB nonvolatile read/write flash data memory with security enhancements, and 256 bytes of data RAM, extendible to 2,304 bytes. The ADuC814 is a fully integrated, 247-kSPS, 12-bit data acquisition system incorporating a high-performance multi-channel ADC, an 8-bit MCU, and program/data flash/EE memory, all on a single chip. The device, which is specified for 3V and 5V operation, runs from a 32-kHz crystal with an on-chip PLL generating a high-frequency clock of 16.78 MHz. It has 8 KB of nonvolatile flash/EE program memory, as well as 640 bytes of nonvolatile flash/EE data memory that is security-enhanced, and 256 bytes of RAM. Developers can choose between an entry-level QuickStart development system, or the enhanced QuickStart kit, a more feature-rich, advanced development package.
