Said to be the industry’s smallest and lowest-power instrumentation amplifier, the AD8235 is well-suited for use in portable, lightweight medical devices and consumer health products. The in-amp measures only 1.6 by 2.0 mm and draws only 40 µA (max), with a 6-nA shutdown current and 40 pA bias current. A wide power-supply range—1.8 V to 5.5 V—eliminates the need for extra supplies, saving additional space. A wide common-mode input-voltage range (4 V on a 5-V supply and 1.4 V on 1.8 V) is important for the low-voltage operation required by many battery-powered portable applications. The device’s 86-dB common-mode rejection ratio (gain = 5) effectively eliminates such interference. The amplifier is compatible with a number of the company’s digital isolators and amplifiers, including the ADUM2400 quad-channel digital isolator, the AD8603 precision CMOS op amp, AD8607 precision amplifier, and the AD8609 precision quad amplifier. The AD8235 is available now in production volumes at a price of $1.59 in quantities of 1000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA. (781) 329-7400.
