With dimensions of only 2.2 by 2.6 by 0.9 mm, the calibrated and temperature-compensated T5300 digital pressure sensor is the world’s most compact packaged sensor of its kind, according to the manufacturer. The device is designed for measuring absolute pressures from 300 to 1200 mbar, with a 14-bit resolution at the serial digital interface. Power consumption is only 2 µA in sleep mode and less than 2 mA while operating on a supply voltage of 2.7 to 5.5 V, making it particularly suitable for battery-powered devices. Data transfer uses the I2C and SPI protocols. The T5300 employs a piezoresistive MEMS sensor chip that is stacked with a signal-processing chip. The very compact package is made possible by the company’s CSMP (chip-size MEMS package) technology. Delivery is in 12 weeks, with pricing of $5.00 in quantities of 1000. EPCOS, Iselin, NJ.
