The iSensor intelligent sensor product family has been expanded with the introduction of two highly integrated inertial sensors that greatly simplify the complex task of embedded shock and vibration sensing within harsh industrial environments. Based on the company’s iMEMS inertial sensor cores, these fully autonomous system-ready devices are one-tenth the cost and 100 times smaller than previous less-integrated, brick-level sensor modules. The programmable ADIS16240 impact sensor delivers superior power efficiency and user configurability in embedded applications while detecting and storing critical events for subsequent analysis. The programmable ADIS16220 digital vibration sensor allows designers to automatically capture profiles of subtle vibration shifts in machine performance and many other industrial applications that require wide-bandwidth sensing. The ADIS16240 is available now in a 12- by 12-mm BGA package at a price of $26.58 each in quantities of 1000. The ADIS16220 is sampling now with production quantities scheduled for June. It comes in a 9.2- by 9.2-mm laminate-based LGA package and costs $53.00 each in quantities of 1000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA. (408) 398-9700.
