Advances in material science helped produce d smaller ferrite chip beads for power-circuit noise reduction. The BKP0603 series of EIA-0201-sized multilayer ferrite chip beads offer a 64% smaller surface area versus previous devices. The 0.6 x 0.3 x 0.3 mm devices reduce power-circuit noise in cell phones and other portable battery-powered electronic equipment. They are 78% smaller by volume compared to the company’s previous 1.0 x 0.5 x 0.5 mm ferrite chip beads. Reducing the size of the ferrite chip beads also reduces their rated current and DC resistance (RDC) performance. TAIYO YUDEN combined advances in material science with innovative multilayering and printing techniques to develop the BKP0603 series of ferrite chip beads in EIA 0201 case size but with the electrical performance of much larger components. Samples are available for $0.05 each. The chip beads are being produced in volume quantities with delivery 2 weeks ARO. TAIYO YUDEN INC., Schaumburg, IL. (847) 925-0888.
