Tuning into Advanced Antenna Design

Sept. 2, 2025
While much attention is paid to the electronics and software in the cloud and IoT, without the right antenna, nothing will work properly.

Our wireless world is an integral part of life today, with almost every powered device being built now smarter and more connected than ever before. However, for all of the amazing functionality provided by these advanced embedded systems and software, without the right antenna, nothing works well, if at all. In this podcast, we talk to Aitor Moreno, Cloud Product Manager at Ignion, about advanced antenna design and tools.

Ignion recently released Oxion 2.0, an AI-driven RF and antenna design tool that simplifies integration. Features include Automatic PCB Gerber Review — it processes and analyzes PCB Gerber files in detail to determine integration readiness and optimization opportunities. And an embedded AI Assistant provides expert-level guidance on antenna theory and helps users interpret the reports and optimize their designs.

Among other features is an AI Design Explorer for adjusting antenna placement, dimensions, and clearance, delivering real-time performance feedback to help engineers refine their designs extremely quickly. There are also enhancements to project management tools to manage multiple projects, compare iterations, and access tailored design recommendations.

The resources available in the Virtual Antenna Academy are developed through the company’s close connection with La Salle University Ramon Llull to provide education on cutting-edge RF and antenna integration techniques.
