Targeting industrial and windmill applications, the PrimePACK family of IGBT power modules is available in 1.2 kV and 1.7 kV ratings and is said to be up to 45% lighter compared to other modules with the same power ratings. The modules are based on a unique packaging concept that relies on the company's IGBT4 chips. They employ a special layout of the IGBT chips inside the module that significantly improves heat distribution. The chips are closer to the baseplate’s screw-fastening points, resulting in a low thermal resistance between the baseplate and heatsink. A half-bridge configuration allows for scaling converter power by employing different module sizes or by connecting modules of a given type in parallel. Modules are available in two sizes: the 89 mm x 172 mm PrimePACK 2 and the 89 mm x 250 mm PrimePACK 3. INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES, Milpitas, CA. (866) 951-9519.
