Designed to prolong battery life by limiting standby current draw to 16 µA, the LTC3801 ThinSOT step-down dc-dc controller operates with up to 94% efficiency. To extend battery life while voltage decreases, it maintains regulation until battery voltage nearly equals the output voltage. Operation is from a 2.4- to 9.8-V dc input source with outputs adjustable to as low as 0.8 V dc. It costs $1.95 each in lots of 1000.
