In a package size that takes up only 60% of the area of the industry-standard quarter brick, the SQM48T/S25 dc-dc converters deliver up to 25 A with minimal derating at elevated temperatures and low airflow. The converters come in an open-frame package that doesn't require a heatsink. Weighing only 18.5 g, they measure 0.9 by 2.3 in., with a height as low as 0.28 in. The converters operate from an input voltage of 36 to 75 V. They're available in standard output voltages of 2.5, 2.0, 1.8, 1.5, and 1.2 V with power densities as high as 115 W/in3. Features include remote sense, input undervoltage lockout, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, output voltage adjust pin, and output overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection. The SQM48 converters are pin-for-pin compatible with standard quarter bricks, and their thermal rating in typical telecom environments exceeds competitive 25- to 30-A quarter bricks. In 1000-unit quantities, the 25-A SQM48 costs $62 each.
