Seeking assignments in handheld, battery-powered products, the SP6200 and SP6201 CMOS linear regulators are said to be ideal for use in such products as MP3 players, digital still cameras, and PDAs. The SP6200 supports 100 mA load currents and the SP6201 can operate up to 200 mA with 2% nominal output-voltage accuracy, said to guarantee a better than 4% accuracy over line, load and temperature. Both devices operate with a quiescent current of 28 µA and provide current limiting, thermal shutdown, enable control, and error-flag output. The SP62000 and SP6201 have power-supply rejection ratios of 90 dB and 50 dB at 100 kHz, respectively, and less than 1% overshoot with load steps between 100 µA and 100 mA. The CMOS design provides ground currents under 500 µA, 0.5% load regulation, and a 300-mV dropout over all temperature extremes at the full-rated output. Available in a five-pin SOT-23 package, the devices offer fixed output voltages of 5, 3.3, 2.85, 2.7 and 2.5V. Pricing for the SP6200EM5 (5V fixed output) is $0.40 and the SP6201EM5 is $0.47, each/10,000.
