Primed for GSM-based cell phones and other portable designs, the ISL9003A low-dropout (LDO) regulator specifies a power-supply-rejection ratio beyond 90 dB at 1 kHz, a figure that forecasts high stability and low noise. It also means that the LDO is immune to wide voltage drops, allowing for a stable output-voltage rail and a load current of 150 mA continuous. It exhibits a typical no-load quiescent current of 30 µA and a shutdown current of 0.5 µA. Various fixed-voltage options are available with ±1.8% output-voltage accuracy over temperature, line, and load. Other features include a load regulation of less than 0.1% voltage change across the full load-current range, an input-voltage range from 2.3V to 6.5V, a dropout voltage of 200 mV at 150mA, typical output noise of 20 µVRMS at 100 µA/1.5V, operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, and current-limit and overheat protection. Available in five-lead SC-70 and 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm µTDFN packages, price for the ISL9003A in an SC-70 package is $1.27 each/1,000. INTERSIL CORP., Milpitas, CA. (888) 352-6832.
