Claiming to cut dropout voltage by as much as 20% and optimized for low voltage applications where dropout voltage performance is critical for efficiency or long battery life, proprietary IMP37 low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator handles 800 mA loads with a maximum dropout voltage of 0.95V. Maximum quiescent operating current is 75 mA. Fixed output voltage options are 2.5V, 3V or 3.3V. Regulator outputs are trimmed to 1% accuracy and input voltage range exceeds 5.5V. Short-circuit and thermal protection are provided on-chip. Applications include battery chargers, post regulators for switched-mode power supplies, ISDN and DSL modems and battery powered equipment. Datasheets, samples and production quantities are also available.
