Offered in thermally optimized MLP packages measuring 3 mm x 3 mm, the SC805 and SC806 battery chargers target consumer electronics such as cable chargers, personal media devices, and mobile phones. They feature an input voltage range of 3V to 6V and three programmable charge states: a trickle charge for deeply discharged batteries, fast-charge, and a constant- voltage (CV) phase. The SC805 offers a programmable 1 hr. to 10 hr. charge timer that protects systems from faulty batteries. Shared features include a charging accuracy of 1% accuracy, pass FET, reverse-blocking diode, sense resistor, and thermal protection. In addition to charging lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, the devices can work as general-purpose current sources or as current sources for charging NiCd and NiMH batteries. The SC805 includes an output pin for external accessories or bootstrap for USB charging. Prices for the SC805 and SC806 are, respectively, $1.05 and $1.01 each/10,000.
