Emerging as the industry’s first system monitoring, protection, and control IC with on-chip power management bus (PMBus) support, the LM25066 promises to improve system reliability and reduce operating expenses in data centers. The device integrates monitoring, protection, and control blocks that control and manage operating conditions of each blade in a chassis. It also provides accurate monitoring of critical system power consumption and fault conditions. Features include a voltage input range of 2.9V to 17V, selectable 25 mV/50 mV current limit threshold, and a monitoring block that measures both current and voltage at 1,000/s with a current measurement accuracy of 3% over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Available in a 24-lead LLP measuring 4 mm x 5 mm, price for the LM25066 is $5.95 each/1,000. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
