The MAX5974 high-frequency, current-mode PWM controller employs an active-clamp architecture that delivers better than 90% efficiency.

The MAX5974 high-frequency, current-mode PWM controller employs an active-clamp architecture that delivers better than 90% efficiency. The MAX5974A and MAX5974C versions suit universal rectified offline or telecom input voltages while the MAX5974B and MAX5974D accommodate input voltages as low as 10.5V. The MAX5974A and MAX5974B integrate sample-and-hold error amplifiers that regulate output voltages through a coupled inductor. Other shared features include adjustable switching frequencies from 100 kHz to 600 kHz with ±8% accuracy, a programmable duty cycle up to 80%, an enable input, and programmable soft-start. Prices start at $1.07 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
