For space- and power-constrained designs, the FAN6863 PWM controller offers low standby power and high efficiency in a small package. A proprietary green-mode function provides off-time modulation to continuously decrease the switching frequency under light-load conditions. Under zero-load conditions, the power supply enters burst-mode, which shuts off the PWM output. This allows the device to achieve a standby power under 100 mW at no-load conditions. Price is $0.36 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (800) 341-0392.
