Designed to continuously monitor and control inrush current, while providing voltage regulation, the CAT3200-5 and CAT3200 output charge pumps utilize a constant switching frequency of 2 MHz that allows the use of 1 µF ceramic capacitors. A shutdown feature disconnects the load from VIN and reduces quiescent current to less than 1 µA. Both devices can survive a continuous short circuit from VOUT to ground. In a 1-mm high, 6-lead SOT23 package, the CAT3200-5 is a fixed 5V, general-purpose device that operates from input voltages down to 2.7V. The CAT3200 has an adjustable output voltage and is available in an 8-pin MSOP. Both devices provide an output current of 100 mA, automatic soft start, zero current in shutdown mode, short-circuit protection, and under-voltage lockout.
