RMS Power Detector Maintains Accuracy

Feb. 24, 2010
MAX2203 RMS-power detector operates from 800 MHz to 2 GHz and outputs the same voltage accurately regardless of the peak average of the input signal

The MAX2203 RMS-power detector operates from 800 MHz to 2 GHz and outputs the same voltage accurately regardless of the peak average of the input signal. Reportedly the fruit of the company’s SiGe BiCMOS process and wafer-level packaging technology, the device offers a repeatable and exceptionally accurate RMS output over temperature and modulation. Features include a -25 dBm to +3 dBm detection range and a 0.1 dB typical RMS accuracy from WCDMA modulation change and ±0.5 dB detection error due to temperature. The MAX2203EWT+T operates from a 2.5V to 4.2V supply over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and is available in a six-pin WLP. Prices start at $0.50 each/1,000.
