Available in a small SOT-23 package, the AS432 is claimed as the only adjustable shunt regulator of this type with reference voltage of 1.24V. When compared with Texas Instruments' TLV431, the AS432 is said to have a wider output voltage up to 18V; output current of 100 mA vs. 15 mA; extended temperature range of 105°C vs. 25°C; and tighter tolerance of 0.5% vs. 1%. These features make the devices suitable for a wide range of battery-operated applications, such as notebook power supply, battery chargers, pagers, portable instrumentation, and handheld equipment.
