For high-current dc/dc applications, the SiP12201 and SiP12202 synchronous buck, step-down controllers are comfortable with output currents up to 10A while maintaining conversion efficiencies in the neighborhood of 93%. With an input-voltage range from 4.2V to 26V and an adjustable output from 0.6V to 20V, the SiP12201 operates at 500 kHz, allowing the use of smaller passive components, and drives N-channel MOSFETs on both their high and low sides. The SiP12202 accepts input voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V to deliver an output range from 0.6V to 55.5V and is configurable for a 100% duty cycle, ensuring stable efficiency during low-input conditions. If the battery goes low, the device operates as a low-dropout regulator. Also operating at 500 kHz, it drives N- and P-channel MOSFETs on their low and high sides, respectively. Both controllers include a compensation/shutdown pin, under-voltage lockout, power-good output, output-current limiting, thermal shutdown, and soft start. Available in lead-free MLP33-10 packages, prices for the SiP12201 and SiP1202 are $0.82 and $0.80 each/1,000, respectively. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (619) 336-0860.
