Audio Chip Amplifies Portable Products

Aimed at portable electronics such as cellular phones, PDAs, and notebook computers, the LM4854 audio device integrates a 1.9W mono speaker amplifier and an 85 mW stereo headphone amplifier for use with 3V and 5V supplies. The chip has a turn-on time of 0.1 ms, and switching from mono to a stereo configuration is via a headphone sense pin. Other features include pop and click suppression circuitry, an active-low micropower shutdown mode, instant-on low-power standby mode, and thermal shutdown protection circuitry.
