Connectors Link Consumer Electronics To Computers

The IEEE 1394 plug and socket interconnects allow consumer electronics and computer devices to communicate together on one standard digital interface. These connectors let users daisy chain up to 63 peripherals, transferring data at speeds of 100, 200 or 400 Mbps over a single wire. Plugs include an integrated strain relief that crimps onto wire insulation for fast assembly. The sockets have snap-in PC tails designed to secure the parts in place for wave soldering. Plugs and sockets are manufactured with phosphor-bronze shells and thermoplastic UL94V-0 insulators. Contacts are gold over nickel plate.
