Field Replaceable SMAs Reduce EMI And RFI

Sept. 1, 2001

Designed for use in hermetic and non hermetic devices, the SMA field-replaceable connectors have an operating frequency range from dc to 27 GHz. Available in various flange configurations, their design has a raised boss at the flange end of the connector that provides an EMI/RFI gasket to reduce leakage. The connectors have Teflon insulators and beryllium copper contacts that are plated gold and include vibration, shock and thermal features adhering to MIL-Type standards. The raised boss also provides control as the contact is made between the connector flange and the package, minimizing impedance variations with a rating of 50½ at the connection. Other features include a VSWR rating of 1.05 + 0.0045 (fGHz), -(120 - fGHz) dB RF leakage level and an insertion loss of .03 times the square root of fGHz. Prices are approximately $8 each/100.
