Hot Swap Controller Guards cPCI Systems

March 1, 2002

The LTC1644 CompactPCI hot-swap controller manages four supply voltages , pre-charging of the data-bus pins, as well as generating the local reset signal. The device's internal switches control ±12V supplies, leaving control of the 3.3V and 5V supplies to external N-channel transistors. Other features include integrated supervisory functions with voltage monitors on all supplies. For systems using less than four power sources, the chip's VEE and power-good monitor can be defeated. Available in a 20-pin SSOP, prices starts at $3.65 each/1,000. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (800) 454-6327.
