Optoelectronic Devices Help Optimize Capabilities Of Fibers

Ten new products targeted at next-generation OC-48 SONET/SDH DWDM systems rated up to 3.125 Gb/s, as well as Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel equipment, have been added to the company’s family of optoelectronic devices. These laser drivers, limiting amps and transimpedance amps combined with the firm’s other opto products help designers of new communications equipment to optimize the capabilities of fibers by giving them a longer module reach, excess margin on the data eye opening, and a low dispersion penalty. The new products are specifically targeted at transceiver and transponder applications and are designed to optimize sensitivity with a minimum chip count and power dissipation. Typical pricing for all of the new devices is from $10 to $12 each/10,000.
