Power Transformers Target General Apps

March 1, 2000

Designed for 120V/240V primary input and 6V to 120V secondary output, AU Series of toroidal power transformers comes in 15 standard models covering a power range of 20 to 2000 VA. Options include encapsulation, mounting, terminal strips and additional shielding. All transformers meet CSA, IEC and VDE standards and are recognized under UL478. Toroidal transformers have many inherent advantages compared with stacked, laminated constructions, including 30% to 50% lower weight and size, better voltage regulation, very low electromagnetic radiation, and up to 90% less mechanical hum. Efficiencies are typically 85% to 95% and off-load power consumption is a small fraction of that used in laminated constructions.
