The DB-2000 family of Device Bay remote enclosures offers the electrical and mechanical form factor to support USB and IEEE 1394 high-speed serial buses. This industry standard allows hot-swappable, plug-and-play expansion and substitution of computer peripheral such as hard, floppy, and CD-ROM drives and tape backups. Device Bay remote enclosure, often called condos, are designed to allow remote peripheral expansion of desktop, industrial and embedded PCs. This architecture dramatically increases flexibility and serviceability because peripherals can be quickly added or removed from a computer system without opening the enclosure, powering down or rebooting.
