Rounding out the V850 family of 32-bit, single-chip RISC microcontrollers, the V850ES/SA2 and SA3 are optimized for low-power, battery-powered applications. Employing the companyÕs V850ES core, the microcontrollers operate on a minimum of 2.2V and consume 30 mW of power at 2.5V. Maintaining a performance level of 21 MIPS at 17 MHz, the two devices provide a power ratio of 700 MIPS/W. Other features include 256 KB of flash memory, capable of being programmed from a single supply, 256 KB of ROM, and 16 KB of RAM. Both devices are available in mask ROM and flash ROM versions. The V850ES/SA2 in a 100-pin plastic LQFP and V850ES/SA3 in a 121-pin plastic FBGA are priced at, respectively, $6.70 and $8.50 (flash ROM) and $13.50 and $15 (mask ROM), each/10,000.
