SDR Architecture Eyes Next-Gen Comm Systems

Targeted for both government and commercial wireless markets, the flexComm software-defined radio (SDR) architecture is compliant with the SDR Forum specifications and the Joint Tactical Radio System Software Communications Architecture. Said to be the highest-performance transceiver subsystem on the market, this architecture integrates technology from a number of different wireless component providers to allow thousands of users to communicate simultaneously on up to 12 independent RF bands. Because it is software defined, the architecture supports multiple air interface standards simultaneously, including 2G and 3G cellular standards. In addition, the software also supports future interface standards via software upgrades. The first products to use this architecture will be available by the end of this year, with minimum configurations of the subsystem available for approximately $15,000 in volume.
