Total Harmonic Distortion Measurements

Dec. 18, 2023
Total harmonic distortion (THD), is a popular measure of nonlinearity of a device. Learn about the considerable flexibility in defining THD while providing a relatively simple way to orchestrate all the needed acquisitions.

Total harmonic distortion (THD) is a popular measure of nonlinearity of a device. Often, it is desired to evaluate this quantity over a sweep of (fundamental) frequency or power, and as such it can sometimes be complicated to set up since many measurements are needed. Some devices, when coupled with the standard equation editor, can provide considerable flexibility in defining this measurement while providing a relatively simple way to orchestrate all the needed acquisitions.
