Designed for sampling wide bandwidth analog signals up to 2 GHz, the AD9680 analog-to-digital converter (ADC) leverages Analog Devices’ wideband RF data-acquisition technology to push forward the trend for direct RF sampling in communications, instrumentation, and military/aerospace applications.

Such an architecture eliminates analog downconversion stages, and allows for more front-end configuration and tuning in the digital domain. The 1.25-V, 14-bit, 1-Gsample/s AD9680 features a noise density of ‒154 dBFS/Hz. When converting a 1-GHz input, the device achieves spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 80 dBc and 61.5-dBFS signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) while consuming 1.65 W of power per channel. The ADC integrates digital-signal-processing blocks and a configurable JESD204B interface, which lets designers create advanced reconfigurable radio platforms. Buffered inputs help ease filter design and implementation. In addition, four wideband-decimation-filter and numerically-controlled-oscillator (NCO) blocks support multi-band, multi-standard receivers.
