Rohde & Schwarz Partners with Albatross on EMC in North America
Pittsburgh, PA. Rohde & Schwarz has announced that it will take over the sales of anechoic chambers and shielded rooms from Albatross Projects GmbH in the U.S. and Canada. Under the partnership, production, sales, and service of complete EMC systems for North American customers are now available from a single source. A spokesman for Rohde & Schwarz said the company and Albatross, a German supplier of EMC test setups, have globally collaborated for more than 20 years on turnkey EMC systems for testing for compliance with CISPR, IEC, automotive, and military standards.
Under the partnership, Rohde & Schwarz and Albatross Projects have set up a new subsidiary—called AP Americas—at Rohde & Schwarz's Flower Mound, TX, facility. Local employees will be responsible for all activities related to the turnkey delivery of EMC test setups and on-site service.
Speaking at the EMC Symposium, Timo Greiner, CEO of Albatross Projects GmbH and of AP Americas, said, “Now is the time to go into the U.S. The U.S. is a big market.” The partnership with Rohde & Schwarz, he said, allows Albatross to produce locally, offer customer-oriented service, and use the established Rohde & Schwarz sales network. The cooperative effort, he said, will help customers contend with requirements on both the receiver side and chamber side as evolving EMC specs require measurements at many gigahertz and at accuracy levels extending from historical ±10-dB levels down to ±4 dB or even ±1.5 dB.
Dietmar Vahldiek, head of the systems and projects subdivision at Rohde & Schwarz, said in a press release, “Rohde & Schwarz is the only company on the market to continuously offer standard-compliant EMC T&M solutions for more than 40 years. The anechoic chambers and shielded rooms from Albatross Projects and the company's decades of experience combined with our products and expertise allow us to offer all-in-one solutions that meet our EMC customers' requirements in all respects.”
Albatross Projects is headquartered in Nattheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and has branch offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Hyderabad. It is a spin-off of the EMC activities at Siemens Matsushita Components GmbH.
