Promising the ultimate in performance and space savings, the company's latest family of 2- and 4-channel 12- and 14-bit a/d converters provide a painless upgrade path with a range of resolutions, speed, and performance options for communications, radar and imaging, test and measurement, medical, and video applications. The ADS6000 family consists of dual and quad, 12- and 14-bit devices available in speeds of 80, 105, and 125 Msamples/s. Integrating single- or dual-stream serialized LVDS outputs, the devices reportedly reduce board space by 60% when compared to CMOS-output converters. Options include coarse and fine gain controls to trade a small amount of SNR for a significant increase in SFDR at high IFs. The first member of the family, the 12-bit, 125-Msample/s ADS6425, specifies a 70.3 dB SNR and 83 dB SFDR at 50 MHz IF in the nominal state, with the ability to reach 86 dB SFDR through gain settings. The 14-bit, 125-Msample/s ADS6445 provides an upgrade path for users requiring higher resolution. Both devices consume 410 mW or 420 mW per channel at 125 Msamples/s.
