Delivering fast turn-on times with zero pop and click, the NCP2892 and NCP2990 audio power amplifiers provide 1.3W of power into an 8Ω load while operating from a 5V supply. The NCP2892, optimized to eliminate pop-and-click noise, offers a differential audio input, while the NCP2990, with the same zero-noise attributes, employs a single-ended audio input. Both feature an externally controlled turn-on time. With a 1-µF bypass capacitor, the NCP2892 specifies a 100 ms wake up time and both devices exhibit minimum turn-on times from 15 ms to 30 ms. The amplifiers can be connected directly to a battery, eliminating the use of an LDO or dc/dc converter. Other shared features include a shutdown-mode current of 10 nA, external gain configuration, and thermal overload protection. In lead-free, 9-pin, flip-chip packages, prices for the NCP2892 and NCP2990 are between $0.44 and $0.45 each/1,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
