QUICK TAKE:
Promising the ultimate in performance and space savings, the ADS6000 family of 2- and 4-channel, 12- and 14-bit a/d converters provide a range of resolutions, speed, and performance options for communications, radar and imaging, test and measurement, medical, and video applications. (See figure)

MORE INFO:
The ADS6000 family consists of dual and quad, 12- and 14-bit devices available in speeds of 80, 105, and 125 Msamples/s. Integrating single- or dual-stream serialized LVDS outputs, the devices reportedly reduce board space by 60% when compared to CMOS-output converters. Through an SPI interface, the ADCs provide programmable options such as coarse and fine gain controls to trade a small amount of SNR for a significant increase in SFDR at high IFs. QUAD SPEED
According to the company, the 12-bit, 125 Msamples/s ADS6425 is the fastest 12-bit quad ADC in the industry, and the 14-bit, 125 Msamples/s ADS6445 is the fastest 14-bit quad ADC.

SPECIFICATIONS
The first member of the family, the 12-bit, 125-Msample/s ADS6425, specifies a 70.3 dB SNR and 83 dB SFDR at 50 MHz IF in the nominal state, with the ability to reach 86 dB SFDR through gain settings. The 14-bit, 125-Msample/s ADS6445 provides an upgrade path for users requiring higher resolution. The devices consume 410 mW and 420 mW per channel, respectively, at 125 Msamples/s.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY
The ADS6425 is available now in a 64-pin QFN package. Samples are available for the remaining family members, with volume production scheduled for the second half of 2007. Prices for the ADS6000 family range from $34.50 to $132.30 each/1,000.
