The EL7551CU step-down dc-dc regulator targets distributed power applications, including telecommunications, data communications, networking, modems, and graphics accelerators. It features synchronous, integrated power FET transistors. For applications with a 5-V input generating an output of 3.3 V, the EL7551CU achieves up to 94% efficiency while delivering 1-A continuous load current.

This dc-dc regulator operates with input voltages from 4.5 to 5.5 V over the ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Available in a compact 16-pin QSOP package, it requires a minimal number of external passive components to provide a complete dc-dc step-down converter. The output voltage is easily set to any desired value within 1 to 3.8 V by two external resistors. Additional features include integrated current sensing, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, overtemperature shutdown, soft-start, and undervoltage lockout. The company offers 8-, 6-, 4-, and 1-A devices to satisfy a broad range of system requirements.

In the 16-pin QSOP package, the EL7551CU dc-dc regulator is priced at $2.37 in 1000-piece quantities.
