The TAS5706 embarks as the industry’s first digital-input, 20W stereo Class-D amplifier with a closed-loop feedback architecture to produce a richer, more accurate sound quality. The device also promises to lower system costs by relaxing power supply performance requirements. Improving audio performance, the closed-loop architecture grants the audio subsystem more control over the speaker to reproduce a tighter and more accurate sound with better bass response. The architecture also provides a better PSRR, allowing engineers to design lower-cost power supplies. For example, the audio amp can derive power from the existing +24V backlight power supply, making a dedicated power rail for the audio subsystem unnecessary. Available in a 10 mm x 10 mm QFP, price is $5.46 each/100. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
