Faster switching with lower saturation voltages is promised with the introduction of several IGBTs with rated blocking voltages of 900V to 1200V. Both parameters are critical to the design of switching power circuits because they contribute directly to power conversion efficiency. The devices can be designed into high-voltage switch mode power supplies, UPSs, ac and dc motor controls and other applications at switching frequencies up to 30 kHz in switch-mode and up to 80 kHz in resonant mode with ZVS/ZCS techniques. Pricing starts at $3.04 (IXGH12N90C) each/1,000.
