Combining a patented BASH topology from Indigo Manufacturing and bipolar CMOS-DMOS process technology, the STA5150 audio power amplifier delivers 200W of output power into a 4W load with less than 10% distortion. Exploiting the characteristics of class AB and class D, the BASH technology uses DMOS power transistors operating in class AB mode to reduce the EMI and distortion typically associated with class D switching amplifiers. The amplifier targets multi-channel, multimedia audio systems, such as 5.1-channel surround-sound applications. Available in the company's proprietary Flexiwatt plastic package, price is $5 each/1,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (781) 861-2650.
