Reportedly, the FCI-APD-300 silicon avalanche photodetector exhibits high bandwidth and responsivity, low capacitance, and low noise. Additionally, it is said to operate from a low-voltage supply. The device has an active area that measures 300 µm in diameter. Target applications include high-speed optical communications, laser range finders, free-space communications, remote controllers, photometry, and other applications requiring light detection in visible and near-infrared ranges.
