Bus Converter Module Boasts Very High Power Density

Jan. 31, 2007
Vicor's B352F110T30 provides an isolated 10.3- to 11.4-V output from a 330- to 365-Vdc primary.

With an efficiency of 95%, the B352F110T30 V-I Chip Bus Converter from Vicor Corp. operates from a 330- to 365-Vdc primary bus to deliver to deliver an isolated 10.3- to 11.4-V secondary. The sine amplitude converter, bus-converter module features a power density of greater than 1000 W/in.3. Used individually or in multiples with paralleled outputs for higher power, the converter offers the highest power density high-voltage dc-dc system for offline ac-dc SMPS and high-voltage distribution systems, according to the company. Additionally, outputs may be connected in series to create high voltages for applications such as rf amplifiers.

The B352F110T30 module's package measures 1.28 by 0.87 by 0.26 in., and is compatible with standard pick-and-place surface-mount machinery and assembly processes. The module provides flexible thermal management through its low junction-to-case and junction-to-board thermal resistance. Due to its high conversion efficiency and safe operating temperature range, the module may not require a heatsink in typical applications.
