Designed for 8x and 12x DVD recorders, the SP8052 photo detector features a slew rate of 500 V/µs, 12 ns saturation recovery time, and a 150 MHz bandwidth. The device provides four data-detection channels, four tracking channels, two summing channels, and two dedicated write channels. The two write channels are said to be optimized for minimal saturation during DVD-write operations and to accommodate the increase in laser power needed for higher writing speeds. Additionally, three selectable gain settings allow users to adjust for variations associated with different media types. Other features include a PSSR of 60 dB, 5 mV output offset, 6 ns settling time, 0.5 ns group delay, and differential outputs with a 2.7V swing. Available in a 16-pin, clear OPLGA package measuring 5 mm x 4 mm, price is $1.65 each/100,000. SIPEX CORP., Milpitas, CA. (408) 934-7500.
